Here is our newest series of articles wherein we will recall a trade rumor in the past that did not happen for each team. Again, this is only a recall of past trade rumors. These rumors are not present ones. So, do not expect them to happen or to be refuted anytime soon!
We will start with the Blackwater Elite. One of the squads designated by a lot of people as a farm team. The pieces of evidence are pretty revealing, especially the fact that almost all of their top 1st round picks have been traded already.
The ironic thing is, they may have gotten the top guy of the deepest draft that they participated in, and that guy is still on the team. I am talking about Mac Belo, who was drafted in the Gilas draft of 2016.
Now, there are a lot of rumors surrounding Belo last year. It started with this one.
The usage of Dermatologists means it could be related to Vicky Belo. Yes, he was pointing to Mac Belo.
And then he said that the player will go to the team with the most number of fans and that team is of course Ginebra.
It was a blue team that is related to the highway and then a coach with flawless skin on the head. A good way to describe a bald coach. So, that points to NLEX and the usage of the skincare expert again points to Mac Belo.
WHY IT DID NOT HAPPEN?
Yes, Belo was rumored to go to two different teams but no trade was consummated. The most logical answer could be that Belo is being used by Blackwater as their landmark of a proof that they are a legit team. Again, he was the main guy of the 2016 draft and he is still with Blackwater.
So, for Blackwater to trade him, I think they are looking to get back someone legit that could replace that role.
SO NOW, WHAT?
I still believe that the guy will be on a different team soon. Especially if the business of Dioceldo Sy, the owner of Blackwater, got hit badly by the COVID-19 problem. They may need to have some additional funds that Belo can provide. Or simply, they may need to save some cash and unload his contract.
