Will NLEX tank to find the heir apparent to Asi Taulava? - 2020 PBA Quarantine Primer

IATF already gave the green light to the PBA to resume practice. Unfortunately, that is still not an assurance that they will let the league return to play. Although, it is not bad to look forward. So, here is another article series that will provide the biggest question for each team as a primer for the possible return of the league.

Today, we will focus on the NLEX Road Warriors. Let us begin with a trivia. Asi Taulava is bound to be the first player of the league to play in four decades. Asi was a direct-hire in 1999 by Mobiline. So, if he managed to play a single game in the future, that will complete his four-decade career. He played in the 1990s, 2000s, 2010s and now 2020s.

According to an interview, that is now the goal of Taulava and he said that that has been the main driver for his workouts.

Although, Asi has been honest that the end of his career will happen soon. So for NLEX, finding his replacement could be their biggest goal in the near future. Especially with the fact that they have also traded JP Erram.

The 2020 season can turn out to be a gift for them.

It is almost assured now that the 2020 season will only be a single conference. So, if they decided to tank, and end up at the bottom of the standing, they do not need to endure a lot of losing. It will be a quick pain.

And the pandemic may make a lot of high-end prospects to be careful about their career and try and secure their finances early by going pro.

What I mean is, the upcoming draft could be very deep.

Actually, the current potential bigs in the draft are high-end talents. I am talking about Jamie Malonzo, Justine Baltazar, Troy Rike, Santi Santillan, Larry Muyang, James Laput and maybe some more.

Actually, they also have the 1st of Blackwater. So, getting two is possible.

So, tanking is not that bad of an option.
