PBA Controversy: About the Calvin Abueva ban, should we put all the blame on Kume Marcial?

The answer is easy, NO!

I think it is obvious now that the tide is changing regarding the ban of Calvin Abueva. In the first few months of it, the majority of us agreed that he deserved the suspension.

But his suspension continues to reached unimaginable level in terms of length, more than 14 months now and still counting, a lot of us have changed.

Just like the respectable Sportswriter and analyst of Spin.ph, Homer Sayson. He wrote a column entitled: Abueva ban has gone far too long it's already a travesty.

One thing that he pointed out was that he was wrong to expect Marcial to be a pro-player and a gentle, caressing soul. Yes, he is implying that Marcial is brutal and unloving.

And then he started to explain why the punishment of Abueva should not have reached this length. In a way, trying to put all the blame on this travesty to Mr. Marcial.

That is unfair to Mr. Marcial. Let us imagine that this issue is a house that Mr. Marcial built. The fact remains that the key to this house was on the hand of Calvin. He was the one who opened it.

Wait. I am also not implying that Mr. Marcial should not be criticized for what happened. He should be. Mr. Sayson was right with the perspective of why Calvin should not have been suspended this long.

But we cannot put everything on him. If this is a pie, Marcial just ate a portion of it. I can argue that he ate as much as Calvin did.

Instead of going after Mr. Marcial, I would rather focus on the other culprit of this travesty. As said by Mr. Sayson, there could be a higher power that forced him to give this very long suspension.

That guy also deserves criticism. If a dog bites you because he was ordered by his owner. Are you going after the dog or the owner?
