2020 PBA Trade Rumor Recall: Was the Alaska - San Miguel blockbuster trade, just postponed?

Let us continue our on-going series of articles wherein we will recall a trade rumor in the past that did not happen for each team. Again, this is only a recall of past trade gossips. These rumors are not present ones. So, do not expect them to happen or to be refuted anytime soon!

In this edition, our focus will be on the San Miguel Beermen. The loudest trade rumor in connection to San Miguel was of course their desire to get CJ Perez. That rumor was already tackled for Columbian Dyip.

CJ was not the only big name that San Miguel was rumored to acquire. Last February, this rumor was posted.

So, who is that star player being implied in this tweet? I think the only guy that will match the "Charles Barkley with muscles" clue is the Muscle Man, Vic Manuel. Of course, he is also considered to be the star player of Alaska. Vic was also from Nueva Ecija. In short, he hit all the clues that were presented.

How about the team that is interested in him?

The winningest franchise in the history of the PBA is of course San Miguel Beermen and it is not even close.

Matt? There is only one Beermen with the name of Matt. Matthew Ganuelas-Rosser. I doubt though, that it will be a direct Matt for Vic swap. San Miguel will add more, knowing the value of a Vic Manuel.

WHY IT DID NOT HAPPEN?
Maybe, one of the teams changed their plan at the very last second. There is also the possibility that they were about to pass the deal but the pandemic happened.

SO, NOW WHAT?
If San Miguel is serious about grabbing the lone title this 2020, they may still try to salvage a deal with the package that they rumoredly offer for Manuel.

Although, I doubt that it will be for Manuel already because Alaska knows that trading Vic Manuel will further send signals to the PBA universe that they are about to leave the league.
