Is Blackwater a farm team or just an atrocious franchise? - 2020 PBA Quarantine Cup Primer

The Philippine Basketball Association asked for an early October resumption of its 2020 season. The plan is to conduct a tournament that will span two months. They will have more game days as usual. In short, PBA could be dominating our television soon.

So, here is the series of articles that will provide the biggest questions for each team as a primer for the possible return of the league.

Today, our focus will be the Blackwater Elite. Oopps, they have changed their monicker from Elite to Bossing. Even though weeks before this decision, the owner of Blackwater told the media that he wanted to leave the league.

Now, when the owner of the franchise revealed this to the media, he said that he is looking forward to seeing a good performance from his team. Especially now that they have a nucleus from a successful FEU team in Mac Belo, Mike Tolomia, Richard Escoto and Ron Dennison.

He even has the guts to say that luck may strike for them to reach the semifinals or finals.

So, they felt that way even though they just trade their best player in Ray Parks. And even though they ended up with the 2nd worst record in 2019, they were also willing to give up their 1st round pick this year.

That is the reason why a lot of the PBA fans have anointed them as a farm team. I cannot blame those fans. They have a lot of evidence to back that up.

But, with how talkative their owner is to the media, I wonder if they are just a badly run team? What I mean is, if you look at the alleged farm teams of the past, you will recognize that their owners were silent during their "operation".

That is not the case for the owner of Blackwater, who always speaks with vigor and enthusiasm about his team.

So, what do you think, is Blackwater a farm team or just run awfully, by its management?
