PBA Free Agency: TNT signed a bigman!

What was more shocking, the sudden retirement of Kelly Williams, or the way that he did it? He left their training bubble without telling the management and then a few days after, announced his retirement.

And the management found out about the retirement in the social media.

It opens up a hole in the rotation of TNT. "Kulang na sa bigman", was one of the immediate reaction of coach Bong Ravena.

The management of the flagship franchise of the MVP group went to work early and found a replacement in the free agency market in Chris Javier.

Javier was the #5 pick of the 2016 PBA draft by the Star Hotshots. That year, the first Gilas draft happened.

In the last two years though, Chris found a home in Blackwater Elite and last year, he produced 4.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, 0.5 assist, 36% FG and 32% 3FG per game.

I will not be shocked if you do not know who Chris Javier is. He does not exhibit any star quality in his first three years. He is an undersized center with below-average athleticism.

What is interesting about him is his ability to connect on three-pointers. That is a must in the system of their coaching staff.

If Chris managed to improved his efficiency from beyond the arc around 36%, that could make him a good piece for the playoff push of TNT.
