Is Alaska's plan of leaving the PBA not happening next year? - 2020 PBA Quarantine Cup Primer

The Philippine Basketball Association is lock and ready to conduct their only tournament this year. That doesn't mean though that the questions before the pandemic are already answered.

So, here is the series of articles that will provide the biggest questions for each team as a primer for the possible return of the league and we are now on our final installment.

In this one, we will talk about the Alaska Aces. If you look at the current line-up of the historic PBA franchise, it is pretty obvious that they are not ready to compete anytime soon. They are on a retooling mode, trying to find the right pieces to surround Jeron Teng, Maverick Ahanmisi and Abu Tratter.

But in the middle of this pandemic, the owner of the franchise gave a cryptic hint about their future, saying that if this pandemic continues to be so bad, it will be hard for the corporations to maintain PBA teams.

Thus, the question about the possibility that Alaska will end their historic run in the PBA remains.

One thing that Alaska fans should be happy about was the decision of Sonny Thoss. He did not retire, which means he believes that Alaska will still be there next year.

If I am the PBA, I will do everything to help out the Aces during these hard times because outside of the three SMC ballclubs, Alaska has the most stable fanbase.

As we have seen this century, it is hard for PBA teams to build up followings even if they are capable of winning championships.
