PBA Analysis: Is this Ginebra's weakness?

This is how heated the race in this 2020 PBA Bubble Tournament. Ginebra was just the main competitor of TNT for the top spot at the start of the week.

Now,  they are a loss away from falling out of the top 4, which will come with a twice-to-beat advantage in the playoffs.

It was two close losses against Rain or Shine and Magnolia. Both teams are perennial playoff contender but is that a good excuse?

Looking at the numbers, the most obvious reason could be their decreasing output in terms of assists. From 22, 30, 26 and 26 in their first four games, they only did 23 & 19 in their two defeats.

We should have expected this because this will be the first conference that the main playmakers are Tenorio, Thompson and Pringle with Justin Brownlee not there.

But one more possibility could be the bad production of their one-two punch on the frontline of Japeth Aguilar and Prince Caperal.

After leading the league in terms of 3FG% in their first ten or so days of the league, Prince just connected on one of four attempts in their last two games.

Aguilar is also struggling. In their last two games, he totalled 26 points, 8/20 FG, 20 rebounds, 2 assists, 7 turnovers and zero block.

Is the magic of Prince gone? Can they really rely on Aguilar to carry their frontline to the championship?
