PBA Controversy: Is Marcial Law against PBA Officiating / Referees good for the league?

At the last 1.3 seconds of the match between Northport Batang Pier and Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, a foul was called, which gave Rain or Shine a two-point edge.

It was a very questionable call as Rey Nambatac had taken the shot way before a minimal body collision happened.

Now, coach Pido Jarencio was fuming after the call and after the game. Making sure that the referees and the technical committee will feel his rage.

More than an hour later, the commissioner of the league, Willie Marcial told the media that they are sending home the referee, Sherwin Pineda, who made the call.

And right away, the issue about this was obvious. They are sending a referee without due process. Add this to the situation of Calvin Abueva and it justifiable now to conclude that Mr. Marcial is not that much of a believer in due process.

Nevertheless, if I am only looking at the angle of the tournament moving forward, I think this will be good for everyone.

With this quick decision, all the teams now have a point of comparison in the future if another questionable call happens.

Although, the question remains if Mr. Marcial will actually do the same thing for a franchise that is not related to the San Miguel Corporation.
