PBA Hot Take: Can Arwind Santos carry the Beermen to Championship?

Let me be honest and say that I was one of those who gave up on the Beermen as one of the title contenders once Terrence Romeo was force-out of the bubble.

Not having Fajardo and Romeo means the offensive fulcrum of the Beermen will not be there. It is hard for me to rely on the old legs of Alex Cabagnot, Chris Ross, Marcio Lassiter and Arwind Santos.

But at 4-2, the Beermen is showing us that they will not let go of the title that they have been keeping for years now, that easily.

One guy that has been the key in their last two victories was Arwind Santos. He is playing so well that coach Leo Austria told the media that they are relying on him and that it will be hard for them to win if Arwind is playing bad.

So, can Arwind Santos carry the Beermen to the championship?

The answer is a clear NO. He is currently producing 14.2 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.5 steals, 1.0 blocks, 50% FG, 2.7 three-pointers and 46% 3FG per game.

He is basically filling-up the entire stat sheet. But the reality is, he has two teammates in Moala Tautuaa and Marcio Lassiter who are playing as good as Santos.

In short, even if Arwind keeps his current production, that may not be enough for them to win the title. They also need Tautuaa and Lassiter to keep playing at that high level.
