PBA Analysis: Is Wright the best closer / clutch scorer in the league today?

Why are you glued to your screen when the score of a game is really close? What makes it exciting? What makes it heart pounding?

Because the game is on the line. Because every possession counts. And we know that the players are under a much higher level of pressure.

And these are the moments when historic shots are made. And legends are born.

Wright entered game 3 of their semifinals against TNT, in pain. Actually, he defied the order of the team's doctor that he should not push himself.

And even in pain, he delivered two clutch shots. One was a three-pointer face-to-face with JP Erram. The other one was a turnaround pull-up midrange jumper against the outstretched arms of RR Pogoy.

You know what was interesting with those plays? It is the fact that Erram and Pogoy did nothing wrong with their defense. Wright is just so good.

It is not as if this is the only game where Wright was making clutch shots. He also delivered the game-winning shot against Magnolia in the quarterfinals.

Should I also list his other makes in the last minutes of their elimination round game? I do not think it is necessary anymore.

With this magnificent run of game-winning shots, there is no denying that he has a case as the best closer in the league. Although, Paul Lee and Stanley Pringle would want to have some talk if you think that is the case.
