PBA Analysis: Will too much love for these two players kill Ginebra in the semis?

After a dominant game 1, Ginebra's offense was shut down by Meralco in game 2 to even the series. As we have discussed in this VIDEO , if Almazan is playing well, it will have a very good impact on the chances of Meralco.

Almazan registered a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds in just 21 minutes of play. He is still not healthy but it is important that he is as impactful as possible when he plays.

Speaking of the offense of Ginebra, I have discussed in the video below the problem that Mariano brings to the offense of Ginebra.

Mariano is a very good on-ball and team defender but his offensive game is a real bump that Ginebra has been playing around with in the past few seasons. That problem appeared again in game 2 as Meralco kept on leaving Mariano, making it hell for Stanley Pringle and Scottie Thompson.

You can see on the pictures below the instances where Mariano's defender went to blockade driver lanes and once in a while, Mariano even blockade those scoring opportunities.

On the other hand of the court, Arvin Tolentino is creating a lot of problems During the 4th quarter when they run the zone defense, Arvin committed a lot of mistakes. If not him, his teammates are over-helping for him. It tells us that they may not trust Arvin that much yet.

Below is a picture where he let Hugnatan take an open midrange and he was not even bothered to make a single step to try and contest.

But coach Tim Cone loves Arvin. He even told the media that with the injury to Jeff Chan, Arvin should deliver now.

Let us see by game 3. How will coach Tim Cone adjust?
