2020 PBA Draft News: They will not join the draft!

The upcoming PBA draft is fast approaching that the fans cannot stop talking about it. We have received a lot of declarations for the upcoming draft, conforming to our projection that this will be very deep.

Although, we also have possible entrants who decided that they will not join the upcoming amateur extravaganza.

Thus, let us examine them and decide if they made the right decision of not joining.

Justin Arana (Arellano)
I am a big fan of the potential of the current Defensive Player and Rookie of the Year of NCAA. He is a nimble 6'6 who decided to return to Arellano for the upcoming season of the oldest league in the Philippines. I think, his decision is fine because the potential draft is now becoming loaded with bigs that the chances of him cracking the 1st round are not that high.

Jeo Ambohot / Ato Ular (Letran)
Larry Muyang decided that he will be entering the upcoming PBA draft. That decision makes this decision of Jeo and Ato the right one because they will now have more opportunity to prove their worth with Muyang gone.

Justin Gutang (St. Benilde)
Gutang is one of the potential entrants in the shadow with very high potential. Last NCAA, he produced 11.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game. I am not a fan of this decision by Justin because I do not think that he can really increase his hype for the 2021 draft knowing that he is playing for an average program that may not be a contender in the upcoming season.

Ken Tuffins (FEU)
Actually, Tuffins is turning pro in New Zealand. Yes, not yet in the PBA but he said that the end goal is still the PBA. I am good with this decision of Ken because I expect that the professional atmosphere in NZ will help his development.

Ricci Rivero (UP)
According to Ricci, he will finish all his eligibility with UP. That means he just foregoes a whole year for nothing. I am not a fan of this decision because even if Paras enters the upcoming draft, Rivero will still end up battling with a lot of up and coming amateurs in the pipeline of UP. And the problem with that is the risk that he will be outshined by these rookies and sophomores. That will surely kill the majority of his hype.
