PBA Mock Draft: Who will benefit from another Gilas Draft?

The PBA board of governors decided yesterday that a special Gilas draft will be facilitated again in the upcoming 2021 PBA draft.

According to the report, the management of Gilas is now discussing the name of players that will be part of the special draft.

Even though they did not directly say it. It seems like we will be having the same Gilas draft like 2019. Wherein, a portion of the picks at the top will be part of the Gilas draft.

In 2019, Terrafirma, Blackwater, Alaska, NLEX and Rain or Shine managed to pull one Gilas prospect in addition to their pick in the first round.

Currently, the top 5 picks in 2021 are Terrafirma, Northport, NLEX (twice) and Rain or Shine. I have argued in the past that this type of Gilas draft is not really fair as it only gives an extra top pick to the ones who will be part of it.

Like, Gilas can actually decide to let go of a Gilas draftee after a year. Thus, making that prospect available for his mother team. Like, Isaac Go could be playing for Terrafirma this year. Completing a very dangerous five of McCarthy-Perez-2021 #1 Pick-Adams-Go.

By the way, there was a rumor in the past that Ginebra is interested on Go.

And knowing the connection of Terrafirma and Northport to the San Miguel Corporation, there is a very good chance that the Beermen, Ginebra and Hotshots will harvest in the future. Actually, they are trying to harvest now!

Also, knowing that Magnolia is at the #6 pick, there is a good chance that they will widen the Gilas draft into 6. So that Magnolia will be part of it.
