As expected the long-awaited CJ Perez to San Miguel trade will soon happen, if we believed the latest news by the Philippine Star.
Unfortunately, it was even more disappointed than I expected.
CJ will be exchanged for Russell Escoto, Matthew Ganuelas-Rosser, Gelo Alolino and the #8 pick of the Beermen in the upcoming PBA draft.
The guy who was the scoring champion for the last two seasons, which was also his first two seasons, will be traded for three bench players and one 1st round pick.
I mean, Gelo was basically an end-of-the-bench guy for San Miguel and Russell was a mere back-up to the back-up.
How in the hell can Terrafirma explain their decision of letting go of their best player? The best player who led the league in scoring?
Do not tell me, you, the fans, will again fall for reading a lot of players to be exchanged for him? Wake-up! Basketball is won by talent!
12 good players will not win against three elite and two awful guys!
And by the way, what made this even disgusting was the fact that Escoto forced his way out of the Dyip franchise in the past.
He was traded with Jerramy King, in exchange for Tiongson.
So, we can equate that as half the value of Tiongson then adds MGR, Alolino and the #8 pick for Perez.
That is not a fair trade. That should be rejected. That is a joke to be even considered!
FORTUNATELY
It is still not an approved deal! The trade committee can still stop it. Please commissioner Willie Marcial, do not commit the same mistake that your predecessor did!
