PBA Trade Rumors: Can the MVP group disrupt the dream CJ Perez to SMB trade?

I am pretty sure the majority of the San Miguel Beermen fans are already salivating about the realization of the long-rumored CJ Perez to San Miguel trade.

Unfortunately, that may not happen anytime soon as CJ decided to join the Gilas team that will compete in the upcoming Gilas qualifier on February 18-22.

CJ was joined by  Kiefer Ravena, Troy Rosario, Justin Chua, RR Pogoy and Raul Soyud as the representative of the PBA.

Actually, 15 PBA players were invited. Only six answered the call. And I think, that is not a bad turnout, as the upcoming qualifier will not affect the spot of the Philippines in the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

Looking at the list of participants, it is interesting to see that the San Miguel Corporation did not have a representative.

Unless you consider Terrafirma as indirectly related to them.

Nevertheless, the eagerness of CJ to play for the national team may actually work in favor of MVP. This is their biggest selling point for CJ to avoid being traded to San Miguel and actually work his way into one of the three MVP teams.

Although I think, this development also shows that CJ to SMB may not be a done deal yet.

And that his remaining with Terrafirma is still a consideration.
