When it was announced that January 4, 2021, will be the day for the PBA to allow trades, I thought we will be having a lot of trades at this point.
That has not materialized. So, let me give my trade target suggestions for every team. Let us start with San Miguel, Northport and Phoenix.
San Miguel
Cabagnot is 38. Santos is 39. Ross is 35. San Miguel could be looking for a player that could be the successor for one of those three. We are already familiar with CJ Perez. So, who should be their other target?
How about Jio Jalalon? It is an out-of-nowhere possibility but if the Beermen is looking for a good tandem with Romeo in the future, Jalalon could be that guy. Jio is feisty and very capable of defending the elite point guards in the league.
Northport
So, what if Standhardinger is really bound for Ginebra? Northport should look to have as much 1st round pick as possible. Even though the pick of Ginebra will surely be very low, the upcoming several drafts have the potential to be very deep that it could be worth it.
I also think that coach Bonnie Tan should try to get his Letran alumni, Jerrick Balanza. I am high about Balanza and I think, he was just buried in a very deep bench in Ginebra.
Phoenix
Talent is the most important thing that Phoenix should try to add. They lack size but I trust coach Topex to overcome that. So, if there is a star that wants to play for them, they should take advantage.
Yes. I am talking about Vic Manuel. Manuel is interested. Can Phoenix give up the right package to grab Manuel?
