Gilas Pilipinas: Why Kai Sotto's decision was very very bad!

When Kai decided through his social media that he wants to return to the Philippines and play for the national team in the February window of the FIBA Qualifying tournament, a lot of people appreciated his decision.

They appreciate that he was very willing to let go of the opportunity to play in the bubble of the NBA G League, just to represent the country.

Unfortunately, the FIBA Qualifying tournament that he wants to play for, is now canceled. Actually, even if it pushes through, it was still a useless tournament because the Philippines are already in for the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

Now, the SBP is rushing to find a way to send back Kai to America, as he tries to catch-up to the G-League bubble.

They still have time because the bubble will last until March 5-9. So, if Kai Sotto steps back on American soil by February 14, he could still play more than two games.

The question though is, will G League allow him in?

And even if they allow him in, how sure are we that the G League Ignite team will actually give him any playing time, knowing that he did not play in their previous games?

It seems like Snow Badua was correct again when he criticized the decision of Kai. It was interesting though that a lot of Filipinos did not like hearing valid criticisms about the decision. They told Snow that he should just show support to Kai.

Nope. Valid criticisms should be spat out too. And providing criticism doesn't mean that you are not showing support. Telling someone whom you want to succeed that he is making a bad decision, never means that you want him to fail.
