PBA Free-Agency: Alaska signs a 6'7 center and a MPBL MVP!

After Alaska decided to let go of three of their current players, they have now filled two of them. Alaska just signed Gab Banal and Yousef Taha.

The first signing that was announced was that of Gab Banal. Gab's first stint in the PBA was forgettable. He was the 22nd pick of the 2014 PBA draft.

He then entered different amateur leagues and his name popped when he won the MPBL MVP award in 2020.

In that MVP season, Gab produced 13.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, 5.9 assists, 1.0 steal and 30.4% 3FG per game.

For me, his game is quite similar to that of Sean Anthony. Although, Anthony is way better in terms of scoring. While Banal is more dependable on defense.

He will be a very good glue guy for Alaska. Especially if he focus on being active and playmaker. He will be part of a strong rotation in the wing with Rob Herndon, Jeron Teng and Maverick Ahanmisi.

Yousef  is also an interesting addition because of his size. It is not easy to find a 6'7 agile center like Taha.

Taha is also a proven commodity in handling the other giants of the league. And that is very important in the PBA.
