PBA Trade Rumors: Alaska rejected a trade offer from Magnolia?

If you think the Vic Manuel saga already ended because The Muscle Man signed a new deal. You are very wrong!

According to Snow Badua, Magnolia offered the #10 pick that they received together with Calvin Abueva, in exchange for Vic Manuel.

In a way, Magnolia was trying to reunite Manuel and Abueva.

According to Snow, Alaska rejected this. Connecting this to the previously reported actions of Alaska, the franchise continues to demand the right package for Vic Manuel without considering the fact that he wants out of the team.

Did Alaska make the right decision?

If we are only looking at it in terms of team building, I think Alaska should try to find the best trade possible. The risk that Manuel will be toxic to the team and hamper their progress is real.

But, if we are talking about the health of the league and the potential impact of this for their future as an independent team.

Alaska is doing something that is painful but is necessary. If they just give in to this type of action by a player, they are risking that other players will follow in the future. Especially those who want greener pasture because Alaska abides with the salary cap.

In a way, I am hoping Alaska will be successful in this fiasco because their success will be an excellent example that an independent team can exist in the PBA.
