PBA Trade Rumors: Wright wants to follow Abueva?

The Phoenix-Magnolia trade, where Calvin Abueva and the #10 pick of Phoenix was exchanged for the #6, #18 pick of Magnolia and Chris Banchero, may have highlighted a big problem on the camp of Phoenix.

And it seems like Matthew Wright is not happy about it.

According to Snow Badua, Matthew Wright is now asking for a trade. It seems like it is already clear to him that his team is currently under bad financial constraints that will hamper their contention for the upcoming season.

This is the reason why it is hard to blame Matthew for doing so. It is his right to find a team that will help him be successful in the league.

On the other hand, what should Phoenix do?

I am hoping they will follow the lead of the Alaska Aces and try to talk it out with Matthew. Actually, they have accomplished it in the past because there were rumors back then that Matthew was asking for a trade.

They managed to avoid it.

If they can do it again, it will strengthen the image of the independent teams in the PBA. As of this writing, only three teams were considered by the majority of the PBA fans as an independent. Meaning, they are not related to another team.

Alaska, Rain or Shine and Phoenix.

I hope it will increase. Not decrease.
