PBA Power Ranking - Point Guard Rotation: Ginebra is #1, right?

Even though the rising COVID-19 cases are threatening the return of the PBA, we continue to prepare for it with our power ranking per position.

For this session, we will discuss the point guard position. Please, do not be shocked if we saw some players in two positions because they are more than capable of doing it.

#12 Blackwater - Baser Amer, Paul Desiderio, Mike Tolomia
No disrespect to Desiderio and Tolomia but they haven't proven themselves to be something special from the average Pinoy undersize point guard.

#11 Terrafirma - Juami Tiongson, Rashawn McCarthy, JP Calvo
McCarthy is not a full-blown point guard and Tiongson and Calvo are just back-ups at this point of their career.

#10 Northport - Robert Bolick, Nico Elorde, LA Revilla, Rhenz Subido
The performance of Nico Elorde and co. in the PBA bubble made me conclude that Bolick is in need of better back-ups.

#9 Rain or Shine - Rey Nambatac, Anton Asistio, Andrei Caracut
It is easy to underrate small point guards but once in a while, we see some shocking revelation. Can one of Anton and Andrei be that too?

#8 Phoenix - Chris Banchero, RR Garcia, Aljun Melecio
If Chris Banchero returns to his Alaska-self, this rotation will be fine. Can Melecio be something more than a back-up PG?

#7 Alaska - JVee Casio, Maverick Ahanmisi, Alec Stockton, Jaycee Marcelino
Alaska's point guard rotation has depth but I do not think any one of them is that special to push them over to the top 7.

#6 NLEX - Kiefer Ravena, Jericho Cruz, Mike Ayonayon
This ranking is carried by Kiefer Ravena. There is a good argument that Kiefer is currently the best young PG in the league. His passing plus scoring is really top-notch.

#5 Meralco - Chris Newsome, Anjo Caram, John Pinto, Aaron Black
Same case as NLEX because Newsome's frame with his creativity and playmaking is something special. The biggest difference between Meralco and NLEX is that Meralco has a much deeper PG rotation.

#4 San Miguel - Chris Ross, Alex Cabagnot, Paul Zamar
The top 4 is really compact at this point. I chose to slide SMB to #4 because of the age of Ross and Cabagnot.

#3 Magnolia - Mark Barroca, Jio Jalalon, Alvin Abundo
Can Jalalon start showing us some good development in his weaknesses? If he can, this rotation could rival the top 2 in this ranking.

#2 Ginebra - LA Tenorio, Stanley Pringle, Kent Salado
I will not argue if you have Ginebra as your #1 because they do have the #1 point guard in the league, Stanley Pringle. Although, Pringle is playing more off-the-ball now at Ginebra.

#1 TNT - Jayson Castro, Mikey Williams, Brian Heruela
When I compare TNT to Ginebra, I think TNT wins two of the three spots. I understand the hype of Williams but I also think that he is overrated at this point. On the other hand, Castro will surely be a starting-caliber point guard.
