Yesterday, the PBA universe was once again hit with a shocker. Ray Parks decided that he will not play this year due to personal / family matters.
But new information and rumors are telling otherwise. It seems like the immediate reaction of the PBA universe that Parks is just doing this to force a trade, could be the truth.
The situation of Ray is now on very hot water after a Facebook profile under Manny V. Pangilinan's name posted a picture showing Parks was in La Union.
It also unearthed the family matter that Parks may have given as a reason. It could be his mother being very sick that she needed their attention and care.
According to Spin.ph, the PBA universe was not the only one surprised. Even the camp of MVP group because they were not told about it before the post in Ray Parks' Instagram.
According to the article, TNT was even confident already that they will get a new deal with Parks.
And then this happens.
If the foregoing buzz and information are true, it seems like Parks lied just to stick something to TNT. He wanted a trade.
But, the way he executed it could be a huge mistake.
MVP, the head honcho of one of the biggest conglomerates in the country, was furious. Knowing that Parks' career in the PBA is still tied to TNT because of the current rules that as long as the current team has offered a contract, a player cannot join another team.
Parks, is now in a very bad situation. MVP group can choose to offer a contract and not grant his trade request Meaning, he will either sign a contract with them, forcing him to play, or find another league to play for.
With what he did, and with the other bad publicity in the past, Ray should not expect the PBA universe to be supporting him at this point. Even Ginebra fans, the team that he wanted to play for, are not happy with what he did.
Overall, the mistake in the execution of Parks could be costing him, not only a year in the PBA, but the entirety of his career.
