PBA Power Ranking: Ginebra TOP 10 first round picks of 2011-2020 drafts!

It seems like the upcoming season of the PBA will be postponed again. So, how about reminiscing the performance of your team in the last 10 drafts?

We do that by ranking their choices from worst to best. This is not about the quality of the player but the quality of the decision.

10. 2017 #12 Jett Manuel
Jett was a good name in UAAP but I never saw enough athleticism and skill level to say that he can stick out in the PBA. And he ended up calling it a career than what we expected.

9. 2011 #9 Reil Cervantes
It is easy to fall in love with a tall wing who can score a bunch of points. But in terms of efficiency, Cervantes was nothing special. Fortunately for Ginebra, they did end up trading for the #10 pick of that draft, Dylan Ababou, who ended up with a much better career.

8. 2012 #8 Keith Jensen
They right away traded him to get Joshua Urbiztondo, whom they did maximize. The only problem is, Vic Manuel was chosen behind him.

7. 2012 #6 Chris Ellis
Can anyone ever forget the moment they announced Chris in this draft and the fans anticipated it to be Chris Tiu? I do think that Ellis ended up with a fine career like Tiu but he was so injury-prone and has some mental issues that he is now out of the league.

6. 2020 #12 Ken Holmqvist
This was the easiest choice. At that #12 pick, I do not think there was a player with the hype that can topple the fact of the 6'8 height of Ken.

5. 2016 Gilas Draft Kevin Ferrer
Will, we ever found out what happened in the Gilas draft? Nope. But for Ginebra to get one of the top 6 guys in that exchange was a huge win for them.

4. 2013 #1 Greg Slaughter
The 2013 draft was centered around Sangalang, Slaughter and Almazan. Even with seven seasons under their belt, I still believed that Slaughter was the right choice here. Yes. He failed to meet the hype but his production was still better than that of Sangalang and Almazan.

3. 2014 #6 Rodney Brondial
Rodney was not used that much in Ginebra but his overall career up to this point is satisfying enough. Behind him in the draft, it is debatable if you will draft one of them over him if we re-do it today.

2. 2019 #10 Arvin Tolentino
I saw enough in the PBA bubble to say that this was a home-run choice for Ginebra in the 2019 PBA draft. Arvin was heavily questioned because of his personality and we never hear any of that during the PBA bubble.

2015 #5 Scottie Thompson
During the 2015 PBA draft, Scottie was not actually as big of a name as Garvo Lanete, Baser Amer, Norbert Torres and Art Dela Cruz. A lot of fans and analysts were intrigued by what they saw but I never heard anyone that Ginebra should get him at #5.

Coach Frankie Lim and his coaching staff saw enough to used their #5 pick on him and everything was history after that.
