VisMin Cup Scandal: The Lapu-Lapu VS Siquijor game was NOT game-fixing

The biggest controversy right now in Philippine basketball was the game between Lapu-Lapu and Siquijor.

I am pretty sure, you already saw the circulating videos of comical misses during the games. The game was so comical that the teams combined for 4/29 free-throws.

Now, I do need to correct the notion that what happened was game-fixing. It was not game-fixing. When we say game-fixing, people who are involved in the game are trying to do things to get a desired winner or loser.

That was not happening during the game. What they were trying to do was gambling-fixing. Back in the days, the gambling of basketball games was focus on the result.

That was the origin of the term, game-fixing. In modern times, advanced options were already available. Like a spread, points of one of the teams, the sum of the points of both teams and etc.

When we say a spread, it is usually a target difference in the score. This was created to make games a 50-50 chance as much as possible.

Like, if the spread is +10 for Lapu-Lapu, it means that if you bet for Lapu-Lapu, you can still win even if Lapu-Lapu loss the match as long as the difference is not more than 10.

That is the reason why the game was so bad. Someone behind could be trying to hit as many wins in the plethora of the gambling options for that game.

Now, what was shocking was that Siquojor carried almost the entire penalty and the decision was made very quick!

That makes the league fishier. I hope the owner can provide us assurance about what happened.

Ooops. The owner is not even known.
