PBA Analysis: Magnolia should trade or sign, to replace Marc Pingris?

There is no doubt that Marc Pingris will end up as one of the most recognizable names in the PBA. He was Pinoy Sakuragi.

He embodied Filipino basketball. He played 100% for the entirety of the game. He always hustles. He has the PUSO mentality.

Thus, he deserved the respect that Magnolia showed to him by waiting for his decision and not making any move for his spot.

Now that he has decided to retire, what should they do for his roster spot?

They have two options. They can do a trade or they can scour the free agency market. The free-agency market is a much easier path.

They have a lot of options. Bryan Faundo, and Yutien Andrada played in the PBA bubble and they will provide different things in the court.

They can also try to contact Rabeh Al Hussaini, Jason Ballesteros and Seraj Elmejrab if they want a center that is 6'7 or taller.

Although, if they really want to grab a pretty good talent, trading is the better path. Ginebra is currently in excess for a bigman after acquiring Christian Standhardinger.

Actually, their friend, Northport, is also heavy in bigs.

Between trading and free-agency, trading is the better choice if they want to compete in the upcoming season.
