Gilas Highlights: Is Carl Tamayo the next RDO or Norwood?

Kai Sotto is of course the focus on the on-going FIBA Qualifiers in Pampanga. Kai met expectations and everyone is now hopeful of his chances for the 2022 NBA draft.

SJ Bengel was of course the hero of the first game against Korea. Dwight Ramos was the steady gunner of the team. 

One guy though that has been getting more looks and praises is Carl Tamayo. To be honest, I was really surprised that he can be this effective already.

Carl for the first two games totaled 16 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. He also connected on 3/3 three-pointers. Yes, 100%.

Now, his favorite player is Ranidel De Ocampo and a lot of fans are starting to label him as the second coming of Ranidel.

On the other hand, Coach Chot Reyes saw him as the next Gabe Norwood of Gilas. So, who should he be? Or, what should we hope that Carl would become in the future?

I do not want him to be the next Gabe or next Ranidel. I would rather see him be the combination of Gabe and Ranidel!

Ranidel is offensive firepower. Can score inside and outside. Can make plays for others. 

Gabe is a defensive standout. easily the best and most reliable stopper of our national team in this era.
