You do not need to be a PBA fan to be aware of the issues surrounding Scottie Thompson of Ginebra and Jio Jalalon of Magnolia.
It is quite funny that these two rivals from NCAA are also suffering some family/personal setbacks in the same year.
The issue of Jalalon was of course about cheating on his wife. It reached the point that they appeared on an episode of Raffy Tulfo in Action.
On the other hand, the current debacle of Scottie is much fresher. To summarize, he proposed to his long-time girlfriend and ended up marrying another, six months later.
Between the two though, one made a hard decision as a father and that guy deserves some respect. Which one?

According to some sources, the biggest reason why Scottie married that another girl is that he impregnated the girl.
So, Scottie was left with the choice of either marrying his long-time girlfriend and letting that child be born and raise without a complete biological family or let go of his long-time girlfriend and create a complete family with the other girl.
Scottie choosing the latter means he saw fatherhood as a vital part of that child. He can easily go the usual route of marrying his legal and long-time partner but he did choose to be a father.
