PBA Rumors: Is PBA all about the MONEY? How about Philippine basketball?

In an insider report from Spin.ph, it was revealed that the PBA board was already aware of the move of Kiefer Ravena to sign with a ball club in Japan B League.

It was as early as February when they found out and low and behold, the PBA board shut it down right away.

Even though the NLEX management of even the higher-ups of the MVP group, gave him the green light.

One of the primary reasons for the board, according to the insider, is that it could be a precedent to other players in the future.

If Kiefer can go, anybody can then do it.

Which should be fine. That should actually be the goal of the PBA. It is to be a league that can prepare Pinoy basketball players for many higher-level leagues.

But it seems like, that is not the thinking of the PBA. It seems like what they want is that, once you are under contract with the PBA, the PBA should only be the one who will benefit.

How about Philippine basketball? The level of the PBA as a league capped the ceiling of every PBA player.

PBA has stopped imagining to further improve the quality of play in the league. And now, they also want to stop the players who want to take their chances.

While the rest of the world is embracing the globalization of basketball. Here is the oldest professional league in Asia, building up walls against that.

Why is Terrence Romeo in the picture, not Kiefer Ravena?

Simple. Terrence during his run with Gilas, once captured the heart of Asian basketball. The guy could have easily been a star in our continent's basketball.

Sayang.
