PBA Team Power Ranking 1.0: Ginebra down, Meralco up?

The first week of the league was not as exciting as we hope for but, at the very least, days are still better with PBA games.

So, did the first week changed a lot in our power ranking?

#10 Northport Batang Pier
They played really ugly for a team that is handled by one of the toughest coaches in the league. I think something is happening in the locker room that they may need to fix first.

#9 NLEX Road Warriors
Respect for this team of a superstar, Kiefer Ravena, and a bunch of average to above-average players, in putting up good fights. Can Kiefer Ravena maintain his composure and lead NLEX into a surprising playoff run?

#8 Alaska Aces
Another team that played well in their first game. Yousef Taha was a good surprise, as well as their spitfire rookie, RK Ilagan.

#7 Rain or Shine Elasto Painters
Rey Nambatac is fulfilling the promise of being the main scorer of Rain or Shine, averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds. Although, I still did not see enough evidence to push them in the upper bracket.

#6 Phoenix Fuel Masters
Phoenix was one of the two heavy-hitters from beyond the arc in the 2020 PBA bubble. We did not see that in their first game as they only connected on 5 of their 35 attempts.

#5 Magnolia Hotshots
They managed a good victory against Phoenix with Calvin Abueva leading the way. The problem is, their issues of outside shooting and frontline depth were still pretty clear during that game. That is the reason why I decided to put them outside the top 4.

#4 Meralco Bolts
I am talking the Bolts, seriously. They have a very deep lineup and a coach who is willing to mold that line-up into a weapon against any type of team.

#3 TNT Tropang Giga
TNT decided to torture Terrafirma in the paint. We still have not seen Mikey Williams, so we expect some turbulence in the play of TNT in the next few weeks.

#2 San Miguel Beermen
The injury of Terrence Romeo was the biggest talking point in the camp of San Miguel but how about the fact that Fajardo is not yet 100%? Remember that San Miguel, no matter how deep they are even with The Kraken, humanizes without the five-time MVP.

#1 Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel
They suffered a bad defeat against NLEX. And a single loss is not enough for me to push them down from this ranking. Especially when it was pretty obvious that they utilized the game to incorporate Standhardinger.
