One of the repercussions of what happened between Scottie Thompson and Pau Fajardo, could be a crack between the friendship of Aljon Mariano and Scottie.
I think the chance that it will lead to Ginebra forcing to trade one of them is low. But if Ginebra is going to choose, I expect it to be Mariano.
So, which teams may want to consider him?
Phoenix
Phoenix lacks a glue-type defensive player. Mariano will not help in terms of outside shooting but on everything else, he can be a plus. Maybe, Phoenix can even be the team the will pushed Mariano to start shooting threes.
San Miguel
San Miguel was forced to trade Matthew Ganuelas-Rosser in the CJ Perez deal. Now, they are lacking a forward who can defend multiple positions.
Mariano can be that guy and then some. He is stronger than MGR, so he will be much better option as a small-ball big.
TNT
Another team that may want to have a Mariano type of player is TNT. TNT has the number of shooters that will minimize the incapacity of Mariano to hit threes. They also have plenty of playmakers to juiced out some scoring from Aljon.
