PBA Controversy: Is Calvin Abueva a hero now or still a villain?

Game 3 of the ongoing 2021 Philippine Cup finals is so newsworthy. Of course, it was led by the accusation that a cooking show happened.

Another thing though that made the game so controversial was a remark by JP Erram, accusing a Magnolia player of spitting and hurting TNT players, deliberately.

First things first, the accusation was not received well by the PBA universe because it came from JP who have an incident in the past where he hurt other players, openly.

According to Spin.ph, the player that he was referring to is Calvin Abueva. Yes. The same guy who was suspended by the league for more than a year.

And the same guy who was just awarded the Best Player of the Conference.

The reality is, a lot of fans love Calvin. He is an epitome of a Pinoy basketball player. Physical, charismatic and hardworking.

That is the reason why a lot of people are happy now that he has avoided controversy for more than a year. And the PBA just let him win a Best Player of the Conference award.

But, there are some people now who are questioning if he is really a changed man. If the bad boy is now a good man. If the villain of the league is now a hero.

Or maybe, the villain just joined the most powerful force in the league. A power that can protect him. A power that can help him be portrayed as a hero.
