PBA Analysis: Did Ginebra and Magnolia made the right import choices?

The first two teams that we have confirmation about their import choices are Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and Magnolia Hotshots.

Both SMC squads faltered against TNT Tropang Giga but in a way, Ginebra was disappointing because it was only in the quarterfinals. While Magnolia can still be considered a success as they reached the Finals of the Philippine Cup.

So, did these two teams make the right choice for their import?

Barangay Ginebra - Justin Brownlee
I have presented the risk about this choice of Ginebra already. Brownlee needs the ball to maximize his value. Same with Standhardinger. Knowing that, the risk that another tournament where Christian's ego will not be fed could really lead to the departure of Christian.

Nevertheless, Brownlee is still the best import in the PBA in the past several years. So, choosing him is still a good decision.
Grade: A

Magnolia Hotshots - Mike Harris
Magnolia managed to grab the former import of the Alaska Aces. Mike was the Best Import of the 2018 Governors' Cup.

Last 2019, he produced 32 points, 8.2 rebounds, 7.2 assists, 3.0 steals, 1.2 blocks and 2.7 three-pointers made per game.

He should be a fine fit because he defends aggressively and he is capable of being a volume three-point shooter.
