TNT Tropang Giga was the best team in the first PBA tournament of 2021. They managed to defeat all the San Miguel Corporation teams.
Yes. They defeated Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, San Miguel Beermen and Magnolia Hotshots. The reality is, only SMB gave them a hard time.
Now, even with their successful Philippine Cup run, TNT's management is not slacking. They just signed the best available free agent right now, Gab Banal.
Gab Banal was let go by Alaska Aces because they can only offer another conference contract. I do not think we should criticize Alaska that much if the reason behind their decision was finance.
Now, Gab produced 8.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 44% FG and 45% 3FG per game. The most exciting part of his game is his three-point shooting.
He was the best shooter of Alaska in the Philippine Cup. Knowing that this is the weakness of Alaska, losing Gab will surely help them lose more game.
On the other hand, I do not think TNT's ceiling increase that much with Gab's arrival because they already have a lot of 3-and-D guys.
I am talking about Troy Rosario, RR Pogoy, Ryan Reyes and Kib Montalbo. But, with Gab, their floor now is much higher.
They now have a player that can takeover if an injury hits Troy or one of the other guys mentioned above.
