PBA Trade Rumors: Is Magnolia giving up Paul Lee for two superstars?

We have not heard the latest trade rumor in the past week. But we do have the most recent one, which states that Magnolia will get Greg Slaughter and Robert Bollick for Paul Lee, Jackson Corpuz and Russell Escoto.

First, if that is really the trade, it is not fair. Greg and Bollick are two superstars. So, trading them to get one superstar, one good player and an injured supporting player is not fair.

It can be argued that Greg Slaughter was the best giant in the most recent tournament. He averaged 16.5 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.3 blocks and 53% FG per game.

I mean, his defense was not even fully captured by his boxscore stats. Greg did not only block shots. He dissuade the majority of the drives to the basket that he faced.

Paul Lee is a top 15 player in the league. It can be argued that he is a top 3 scorer. Still, though, he alone cannot carry two non-star players to be of equal value for Slaughter and Bollick.

Unless, the rumor that Robert will be going to Japan next year, is true. If that is the case, we should only value Robert as a player who will play one more tournament and maybe zero after that.

If that is the way we will value Robert, then Greg plus him for Lee, Escoto and Corpuz will now be fair and Northport may even end up as the winner.

Although, why would Magnolia trade for Robert if he is going to Japan?

Are they that desperate to win a championship?
