PBA Free Agency: San Miguel took advantage of Alaska!

If you are not aware, the PBA decided that this 2022, all of the expiring contracts will not be automatically renewed even though the tournament is still ongoing.

Rodney Brondial is one of those players with expired contracts entering 2022. Currently, Alaska is still negotiating with him but other teams can make offers for him.

Brondial averaged 8.3 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.6 assist, 0.9 blocks, 44% FG and 30% 3FG per game.

Now, according to PBA on the Go, the teams that are competing for him are San Miguel Beermen, Magnolia Hotshots and TNT Tropang Giga.

It is not shocking that good teams want him because Rodney is a superb role player. He is not that big but he is hardworking and can defend pretty well.

Also, Rodney is still improving and is capable of hitting long bombs which helped in spacing up the floor. And that will help the other playmakers of a team.

And just today, we found out that Rodney Brondial chose to go to San Miguel Beermen. I will not blame Rodney for choosing to reunite with his college coach, Leo Austria.

But, I wonder what San Miguel is doing here.

Their bigman rotation is already so deep. And, they added an undersize bigman that cannot play the small forward position.
