PBA Analysis: Northport is about to become the future of the PBA?

If you are a fan of Northport Batang Pier, I do not think you are happy with the current performance of the team.

They are currently winless and the chances of them salvaging a playoff birth this year is as low as you can get.

It did not help that they failed to extend the contract of Greg Slaughter and they even almost lost Bolick, too.

But, if you are future-oriented, you should remain bullish with this team. First, they still have the current top local scorer and top local passer of the current tournament in Robert Bolick. And mind you, Bolick is not even at the peak of his physical prime. He can still improve.

Then, they also have Jamie Malonzo and Troy Rike. Malonzo is a good bet to become at least a All-Star level player in the league. While Rike could become the best stretch-giant in the league and that will make him the most unique modern weapon.

Now, their current atrocious performance in the Governors' Cup could open up opportunities to grab more future superstars.

If they can sustain their current trajectory, a top 4 pick could be within reach for them. A top 4 pick may actually be an opportunity to be part of the Gilas draft and if that happens, it could mean two blue-chip prospects for them.

Add that to Robert, Jamie and Troy and I think Northport is looking really really good.

To complete an out of this world plethora of young stars and future superstars, they just need to trade Greg Slaughter and Arwind Santos for 1st round picks and other young talents.
