PBA Controversy: Can Alaska really win their 15th championship?

There is no question that Alaska Aces is the biggest story in this 2022 PBA Governors' Cup. This is their last chance to compete for a PBA title.

Of course, they can always decide to try and comeback to the PBA in the future and actually, there are already rumors that this is part of the plan.

Overall though, the biggest question now for them is, do they really have what it takes to win the championship?

I mean, is a team led by Jeron Teng, Maverick Ahanmisi, Abu Tratter, Robbie Herndon and Allyn Bulanadi with Olu Ashaolu defeating those helluva line-ups of TNT, Barangay Ginebra, San Miguel and even Meralco?

I actually can see that happening. And numbers are backing that up.

They are currently the best defensive team in the league. I am pretty sure you are familiar with the statement, defense wins a championship, right?

That could be the case for Alaska. Their defense is so good that the 2nd best in terms of the opponent's points is higher by more than five points.

If Alaska can keep this level of defense in the playoffs, I think they will have a chance against those star-studded franchises.
