PBA Controversy: The PBA is better if they expand to 14 teams!

When Alaska Aces shocked the entire PBA universe this week by announcing that they are leaving the league at the end of the Governors' Cup, my first reaction was, this is so bad for the PBA. A few days after and it seems like there could be a  light at the end of this tunnel.

For the roster of Alaska, there are two options. Either a company outside the PBA will buy their franchise or a dispersal draft will happen.

Because Alaska's exit was so out of nowhere, there were no companies who were talking to them about a purchase.

But, just a day after, we heard the news that there are companies that approached the PBA and there are those who talked to Alaska.

And by the estimated count of the fans, we at least have seven inquiries. In short, there are seven companies that are interested in joining the PBA.

Think about it, they can let three of these companies enter the PBA, one of them to purchase Alaska and the other two as expansion teams, and we are still left of four companies with interest.

I hope the PBA will not waste this sudden rush of interest from outside companies and work out an expansion.

The reality is, the number of PBA-level players that are eligible to play in the league is increasing. More teams mean more paths to create superstars. More superstars mean more eyeballs. More eyeballs mean more money.
