PBA Draft Controversy: The biggest winner and loser of the FAILED Gilas draft concept?

When the Gilas draft was first introduced, it always smells like a concept that will bound to be unfruitful. It all starts with the fact that it failed to recognize how big of an advantage it gave to the teams that participated in it.

Now that the 2019 Gilas draftees are all trying to play for the teams that drafted them, it is time to recognize the teams that got the most from it.

WINNER - Terrafirma Dyip
In the last two drafts, Dyip worked their way to the #1 pick. And they did get a lot from it. They drafted Joshua Munzon and Roosevelt Adams in the regular draft. While also getting Isaac Go and Jordan Heading.

There is a good argument that those four guys are four of the top 10 participants in the last two drafts. Actually, Terrafirma manage to get that much because Munzon and Adams are not qualified to play for Gilas. Thus, lower-level players were taken to be part of the draft and that pushed those guys to be drafted after four/five names were called.

LOSER - Rain or Shine
In 2019, the Gilas draft was given to top 5 picks. Rain or Shine had the #6 and #7. In 2020/2021, it was provided for the top 4 picks. Rain or Shine was #5.

Rain or Shine had a good plan in the 2019 draft. They got #5 to #7 of that draft. If the draft was done regularly, they may have a much better draft haul and they should look like a very different team at this point in time.
