PBA Trade Rumors: Magnolia is about to get Greg Slaughter?

The drama in the Philippine Basketball Association right now is at an all-time high as trades, free agency, national team and even marital issues connive!

One team that should be feeling too much pressure right now is Northport Batang Pier. Their top scorer and top assist guy just said no to their contract extension offer.

Their giant, the biggest player in the league, also did the same. Without Robert and Greg Slaughter, Northport is bound to compete for one of the top picks again.

So, Greg's contract expired and there should be an ongoing negotiation right now. He is a Restricted Free Agent, meaning Northport can match any contract that he will sign with any other team.

In short, expecting him to change sides and go to the MVP group may not be realistic, knowing the relationship between Northport and SMC.

On the other hand, it will make it easier now for the other SMC teams to get Greg. They just need to make sure that Northport will not match.

So, Magnolia Hotshots, the SMC team that has been looking for a partner to Ian Sangalang for a while now is a very real option.

Imagine the defense that coach Chito Victolero can make with Mark Barroca and Jio Jalalon on the perimeter. Calvin Abueva and Rome Dela Rosa on the wings. And Greg Slaughter and Rafi Reavis at the paint.
