PBA Controversy: Ginebra's new big three?

This 2022 PBA finals between Barangay Ginebra and Meralco have been very entertaining and controversial.

After the fiasco between Arvin Tolentino and Raymar Jose in game 1, we had a very close game 2.

Controversies are still present as coach Norman Black revealed that they will ask for a review for some of the plays.

Meralco fans were loud about the apparent favoritism of the referees in using their powers of calling fouls.

We checked the numbers and the claim is supported by the 5 fewer fouls called on Ginebra in each game.

Although, I check the team averages and the average fouls called on Meralco in the first two games is close to their overall average. That could entail that in terms of fouls called, Meralco is just being called like usual.

Although, this type of pressure on the referees may not actually be about proving that there is favoritism. It can also be led to pressure that will help Meralco in getting close calls in the next games of this series.

Overall, from what I saw during the game, I think the referees were missing calls for both teams. And adding what the numbers tell us, I will not agree with the Meralco fans.
