PBA Controversy: Is Aaron Black deserving of all the hate?

Barangay Ginebra succeeded in getting their fourth Governors' Cup crown at the expense of the Meralco Bolts.

If you know a Meralco fan, you better not talk to them right now because experiencing failure at the hand of the same time for four years straight is not a fun experience.

Of course, coach Norman Black got the biggest ire of the fanbase. Yes, Meralco has a fanbase, whether you like it or not.

And other than coach Norman, his son, Aaron, received a lot of attacks too.

It is hard to blame the fans because the opportunity being given to Aaron is an example of nepotism and Filipinos hate it when they are not the ones at the receiving end.

Is Aaron deserving of the hate?

Just by looking at his overall numbers this tournament, I think there is merit. The guy averaged 9.8 points, 42% FG, 4.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. Decent but not good enough to be a clear reason to play Black that much amount of playing time.

Even in the films, Black may have these amazing timely scoring outputs but he also usually delivers bone-headed plays for each one.

Defensively, he is a mature player but I also do not think that he is that special.

I wonder though if Meralco could have been better if they triple-down with point-Newsome.
