PBA Power Ranking: Top 3 MVP Candidates!

There is no denying that this is the hardest race for the MVP award in the era of Junemar Fajardo. With the bad results of San Miguel and Fajardo's numbers going below the norm, the MVP award is available for everybody.

Who are the top 3 candidates?

#3 Calvin Abueva

Let me give a trivia question. Who won the Rookie of the Year for the draft batch of Fajardo?

Yes, Calvin. Calvin was having a very good season this year. Magnolia reached the Finals and semifinals this season with Calvin being their best player. Magnolia's biggest selling point is their defense and Calvin recorded the best defensive rating in the Philippine Cup.

#2 Scottie Thompson

Scottie deserves the Best Player of the Conference award this Governors' Cup. There is no denying that he is the most complete and best performing local player in connection to winning basketball in this tournament.

Unfortunately, we also need to look at what transpired in the Philippine Cup. Both TNT and Ginebra were eliminated in the quarterfinals once this season. The difference is, Scottie's team did that in a conference without import, which means that they failed in a tournament where they needed him more.

#1 Mikey Williams

Mikey's TNT only managed to reach quarterfinals in the Governors' Cup.  Nevertheless, he still put up import like numbers. He posted the 8th best scoring average this conference.

And of course, in the Philippine Cup, it was very clear that he was the best player in the league.
