2022 PBA Draft: Top 5 Potential Draft STEALS!

Other than anticipating which teams will get the best prospects in the draft, it is also fun to talk about the potential steals of the draft. These are the guys who can have the biggest impact to the PBA relative to their draft position.

Here are my top 5 candidates.

#5 Christian Fajarito

He is the 10th pick of the second round, taken by the Meralco Bolts. Christian showed interesting glimpses of ball handling and passing for a bigman. I hope coach Norman will let him grow these skills because these are his tickets to a long PBA career.

#4 Tyrus Hill

Energetic quick leapers like Hill will have plenty of opportunity in the PBA. The question is, does he have the work ethic to maximize those gifts? If he has, Tyrus can even end up as a top 3 player in this draft.

#3 Justin Arana

Justin has a good shot of ending up as the best player from this draft class. With his history of steady improvement, I am confident that coach Danny Ildefonso can open up a path for him to greatness.

#2 Tyler Tio

Yes, my top 2 are both choices by the Phoenix Super LPG in the 2nd round. Tio may have a PBA version story of the career of Devin Booker of the NBA. Was relegated to a role in college but actually have the skills to be more than that.

#1 Encho Serrano

I wonder what Encho did to slip to the #19 pick in the draft when he was even the best performer in the draft combine. After Jeremiah, Encho has the best shot in this class to become a tier 1 scorer in the league. For Phoenix to get him at #19 is easily the biggest steal in this draft.
