I have been clear about my stance about coach Chot Reyes in his signing as the Gilas head coach.
I do not put any blame on him with what happened to coach Tab Baldwin which is becoming clearer by the day that he did not resign out of free will.
Now, if the current rumor that CJ Perez was cut from the SEA games squad is true, then that is a big mistake.
If you are not aware, the wife of CJ, revealed in her social media account that CJ was told that he will be part of the team but just the night of that day, they suddenly told him that he will not be part of the team.
That is a laughable decision. Specially if you realize that CJ is perfect for the dribble drive offense coach Chot Reyes, specially for SEA games.
CJ is quick and very strong for a guard. He is a bully in the SEA games against the guards of the other teams which are smaller and less athletic.
And of course, the guy is very skilled. He has finishing moves. He can pull up. He can breakdown the defense.
For a team that was assured to have a weakness in chemistry, I do not see any reason for his exclusion.
Other than things outside the basketball court.
And if coach Chot is putting things outside the basketball court as his reason for his roster decisions, then he could be deserving of the hate that he is getting right now.
