PBA Trade Rumors: Should San Miguel Corp. trade Slaughter to Meralco?

The situation of Greg Slaughter and the PBA is still one of the most fascinating thing to unravel in the history of the PBA.

Imagine a league dominated by the giants but now they are closing their door to the biggest of them all and arguably the best one last season.

So, the current facts right now is that Northport has a tender maximum offer but Greg is not willing to sign it because he was playing for a much larger money in his previous contract.

We have a standstill here and according to Homer Sayson of Spin.ph, there is one team who already showed interest of trading for him.

It is the Meralco Bolts. The same team who lost four PBA finals primarily because they always have a clear size disadvantage.

Adding Greg will surely alleviate this weakness. And I can actually see him having his best season ever with Meralco. Can you imagine Greg being the key for Meralco to finally overcome Ginebra?

The ball though is in the court of Northport or to be more honest about it, San Miguel Corp.

Should they make a deal with the franchise of the other camp?

I actually think that they should. The risk that Greg will further damage the reputation of Northport and even SMC is really high. He already revealed indirectly that he was paid beyond the maximum amount allowed.

Also, Meralco can provide a package that is worth it for a Slaughter.

The rumored Mac Belo, Alvin Pasaol and a 1st round pick is plenty enough to cover some of the current and future needs of the SMC teams.
