Gilas Rumors: SMC will takeover the Gilas Pilipinas?

We are almost just a year away from our hosting of the 2023 FIBA World Cup. There is a good chance that we will not have a chance of hosting this event again in the next 50 years.

So, we need to take our best shot. And for us to do that, the best national team should be crafted. For that to happen, the best eligible Pinoy players should be available for the national team.

That has been the biggest problem of the national team for almost their entire history. But with this meeting, can we at least have the best pool ever of our national team?

Then we heard a rumor from Snow Badua, stating that Manny V. Pangilinan is planning to move down from the top posts of SBP and pass it to the SMC group.

If that happens, it means that San Miguel Corporation then will be the one that will take charge. It also means that all of the eligible players under the SMC banners will be there to represent the country.

Should we believe this rumor?

For me, yes. With what transpired in the "resignation" of coach Tab Baldwin. The silver medal finish in the SEA games. And the silent news that coach Tab Baldwin is not returning as the coach of the national team. The MVP group will take too much of a risk by handling the upcoming 2023 FIBA World Cup with their scheme.

So, making the ultimate sacrifice right now could be the best for Philippine basketball today and its future.
