Lakers will draft a Pinoy draft prospect?

We all know how important the upcoming 2022 NBA draft is. Kai Sotto is trying to become the first homegrown player with Filipino blood to be drafted in the NBA.

Players with Filipino bloods were drafted already in the past and some of them actually have good roles in the NBA. We are talking about Jordan Clarkson and Jalen Green.

In this draft though, Kai is not the only Filipino trying to enter the NBA. There is another one, a Filipino-Foreigner, Remy Martin.

Remy played five seasons of NCAA basketball and ended it with career averages of 13.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.1 steals, 43% FG and 34% 3FG per game.

What was interesting though was that Remy conducted a workout with Los Angeles Lakers last week. A workout means the team wants to see them show-up what they got in the training court.

A good sign for a prospect that is not currently on the draft radar. He is not even in the current top 100 of ESPN. A very bad sign for his chances of being drafted.

Nevertheless, Remy is a spitfire small guard. And we have a lot of examples in the past of players who can score that found their way into a few years stint in the NBA.

Remy's biggest weakness is his size that limits his defensive capacity.

Overall though, Remy should remain to be on our radar because of his willingness to play for our national team.
