PBA Controversy: Coach Pido Jarencio or Coach Vanguardia, who was wrong?

Blackwater Elite continued their good start this conference by giving the second loss of Northport Batang Pier. For the first time ever, Blackwater has more wins than losses after their first three games.

What we did not anticipate though was the ending of the game where coach Pido suddenly exploded and bumped coach Ariel with his belly.

Coaches and players quickly went between them. Although coach Pido was obviously spitting out bombs against coach Ariel.

After the game, the two coaches explained their side. According to coach Pido, the timeout was fine with him but Blackwater not taking a shot was so disrespectful in his eyes. For him, it was a sign of disrespecting the other team.

On the other hand, coach Ariel explained that they did design a play but no shots were available. So, no shots was taken.

If you breakdown the situation, we can actually see where the issue lies. From both sides, it seems clear now that the timeout was not the problem.

It all boils down to a shot not taken. So, it is important to watch that last play. In that last play, Blackwater did run a play. It even went to the Rashawn that they were trying to position.

But then Rashawn hold on to the ball. Coach Ariel said that no shots was available. That was not true. Suerte was wide open in the elbow with a clear passing lane for Rashawn to take.

Rashawn did not made the pass. And coach Ariel said in the press conference that he said not to take a shot anymore.

Thus, I will side with coach Pido that what transpired can be taken as an attack to disrespect the other team.

But, I also do not think that it warrants that type of reaction from coach Pido. If what Blackwater did was disrespectful, what he did was even worse.

In short, both sides were wrong.
